Labour is becoming increasingly scarce, making efficient work in the crop more important than ever. Tabletop cultivation helps strawberry growers respond to this in a practical way. By placing cultivation gutters on posts, a clear and organized system at working height is created. The crop remains easily accessible and activities such as planting, crop maintenance and harvesting become faster and less physically demanding.
Work more efficiently and improve crop control
Working at height improves comfort and enables more efficient use of labour. At the same time, the fruit stays cleaner as it does not touch the ground. The open crop structure also improves air circulation around the plants. This helps reduce diseases and pests and contributes to uniform crop development and stable production.
The tabletop systems are strong and modular in design. This makes them easy to install, expand and combine with different FormFlex® cultivation gutters, such as the MK and SKG gutter. In this way, the system can be tailored to the chosen cultivation method and substrate.
Protection against weather conditions
For outdoor cultivation, the system can be expanded with a rain cover system. The steel brackets support both the cultivation gutter and the arch construction for the foil. This creates an integrated solution that protects the crop against rain and wind while remaining easy to expand. Tube arches provide additional support for the foil and ensure smooth opening and closing.
Recently, Metazet realized a large project in Austria where a rain cover system was combined with cultivation gutters. A practical example of how tabletop cultivation brings together labour efficiency, crop protection and a well-organized cultivation setup in one system.
