For Metazet, sustainability starts with solutions that last a long time and are tailored to the realities of greenhouse operations. That doesn’t always mean replacing them with new ones. In fact, by properly maintaining, renovating, or reusing existing systems, we can extend their lifespan. In addition, we consider water usage, labor, safety, and material use. In this way, we work with growers to develop solutions that contribute to a future-proof greenhouse.
Cultivation systems, tubular rail system, or logistics solution must continue to function reliably for many years. That is why we develop, manufacture, and test many of our solutions in-house. In doing so, we consider not only the initial application but also maintenance, modifications, and future developments in the greenhouse. The longer a system remains fully functional, the less likely it is that replacement will be needed.
Sustainability also means taking a close look at what’s already in place. If an existing system is still technically sound, renovation can sometimes be a better choice than complete replacement. Second Skin is an example of this. In this process, an existing Cultivation gutter is fitted with a new plastic top layer. This allows the existing structure to be preserved and extends the Cultivation gutter’s service life.
We don’t just focus on the solutions we develop for growers. We also explore how to make the selection and use of materials better and more sustainable. By extensively testing materials and applications for their durability, we gain insights that we apply to new developments and improvements. Within our own organization, we also invest in a safe and healthy work environment and in our employees. By sharing knowledge, training people, and giving them room to grow, we are building Metazet’s future together.
Labor also plays an important role in a future-proof greenhouse. Mechanization, logistical solutions, and tools can reduce or lighten the burden of repetitive tasks. Examples include internal transport, tasks during crop rotation, and working at heights. This saves on labor and helps employees perform their work safely and comfortably.
Water is becoming an increasingly important issue in greenhouse horticulture. A well-designed cultivation system helps collect and drain water and drainage water in a controlled manner. In doing so, we consider the system’s design, hygiene, and opportunities for reuse. In this way, we support growers in achieving reliable cultivation and careful water management.
Sustainability also means creating a healthy, safe, and inclusive work environment. We strive for ergonomic workstations, safe procedures, employee participation, and a culture of well-being. A healthy workplace promotes the well-being of our employees now, but also helps us build a sustainable workforce in the long term.
We want to be a company that not only offers sustainable solutions but also has a lasting impact on the lives of our employees. Together, we are building a greener future—not only for the horticulture industry but also for our own Metazet family. That is why sustainability is not just a goal, but an integral part of our mission.
Working more sustainably often starts with taking a close look at the current situation. What can last longer, where is renovation possible, and where can technology help save labor, materials, or water? Our specialists are happy to contribute their practical insights.
